Let me make it clear right at the outset that I am NOT a believer of the paranormal. I am a man of Science and Logic, and always have my wits about me. However, one incident occurred fairly recently and though it has not broken my faith, it has managed to shake me spiritually more than anything else.
I, Rami Misbah Taha, am an engineer by profession, and so it is mandatory that I sometimes stay over late at construction sites to supervise the workers. This event took place last Friday. Most of my staff had gone home already and only a couple of them remained. The location was empty and I was on the second floor on inspection duty.
Suddenly, I clearly felt as if something or someone brushed past behind me towards the door. I almost jumped out of my skin and let out a loud yelp. However, when I turned around, there was not a soul in sight. Even though I became unnerved, I dismissed it as a figment of my own imagination.
Minutes passed. There it was again and now the sound had become clearer. When I turned around, nobody was there. Now I was sure my men were playing tricks on me. I called out as loudly as I could, “Nice try, men! But it’s gonna take more than that to scare me!”
Instantly, a response floated back, faint but I could make out the words, and what I heard froze my blood – “What you talkin’ about? We’re downstairs.”
I bolted out almost immediately. Yes, Rami Misbah Taha doesn’t believe in the supernatural but he can get freaked out by an apparently supernatural event. Not my proudest moment, I must admit! Since that day, I’ve gone back to the site only when there are other people around, and before the sun hasn’t gone down.
